Unfortunately we no longer have a Health Visitor attached to the practice. If you need to contact a health visitor please call direct to Wollaton Vale Health Centre on 0115 9287793. The health visitor will be happy to advise on health issues relating to children below the age of 5.
The 4-8 week mother and baby check will be carried out by one of the doctors. This is to ensure that your newborn baby is developing normally. Please ask for a 30 minute appointment.
Childhood immunisations are given by the practice nurse and start from 8 weeks of age. The schedule of recommended immunisations is in the Red Book given to you following the birth of your baby. The nurse will be happy to advise regarding the immunisation schedule.
A comprehensive family planning service and advice is available by
appointment. This includes IUD (coil) insertion and monitoring.
All patients over the age of 65 and those with longstanding disease
affecting the heart, lungs, liver or nervous system and those with
diabetes will be offered Flu vaccine each October. It is also
recommended for those living in care homes and people who are the main
carers of another individual. Our practice Nurses are happy to advise.
Maternity Care is provided by the Community Midwives. The Community midwife can be contacted at Wollaton Vale Health Centre on 0115 928 7793.
Many small operations can be performed in our fully equipped centre.
We are happy to perform private medicals.There is a charge for this service. Please ask for details at reception.
The Department of Health in England now recommends that women aged
25-49 have smears performed every 3 years and those aged 50-64 have
these performed every 5 years. Please make an appointment with the
practice nurses.
We offer a travel and vaccination service. A travel advice
questionnaire needs to be completed by the patient 4-6 weeks before the
planned date of travel. The travel advice questionnaire can be collected
from our reception or downloaded
here. Our
practice nurses will then consult the most recent travel vaccination
guidelines for the area you are travelling to and advise a vaccination
programme for you.
